That in itself could mean all the difference in the world as far as fitting into a mix and sounding better or worse by itself. In turn, the S-Gear's sounds like a more centered mid-range and has some low-end trying to be part of that picture. Using my cans, the UAD's mid-range footprint seems much wider than the S-Gear's does. The OP's two audio clips are very different.
Maybe it's in the overall presence of the signal, or audio image or whatever is the best way to describe it. It's that simple and again, that's how it works for me. There is something about the UAD amps that have me fighting to get them to fit into what i am doing. My workarounds are good enough, though.įor me - sure, I absolutely agree that the UAD amps sound good. That said, I would give up my left 'nad if UAD and Scuffham partnered resulting in S-Gear being available to run either in Unison or even as a Console insert.
There is no questioning the fact that I am a huge fan of UAD since the X-series came out. If I turn my guitar all the way down and the unison inputs all the way down AND turn the volume input down it's still TOO hot. Also they Fender should be updated to run less hot.

I also wish UAD would update this fender and give us option to add room mics such as in the blues breaker amp. If there were a way to get the fender less hot I'd love to know. S-gear I had to tweak quite a bit and still couldn't get it to sound as good :/ at least to my ears. This is pretty much out the gate with the settings. It's got body, warmth, and has a really nice sound. I really tried to get these to sound similar. The fender runs super hot which is a downside. I am talking about the 55 Tweed vs s-gear 57 To my ears the fender is grittier and has a very nice body to it.
